Loanspage.net - Privacy.
Information we collect.
We collect information about you when you complete a loan application form.
When applying for a loan, the minimum information we ask about you is: Name, Address, contact telephone number(s), date of birth, the type of loan you are looking for, amount of loan, your opinion of your credit rating, and your agreement that you agree to our Data Protection Act statement (see here).
Other information that you may be optionally asked to supply includes: purpose of the loan, deposit you could provide if asked for, your employment details (including income, name of employer & contact information), information about your mortgage and your home, your expenses, outgoings and other income. This information is optional and depends on the type of loan you apply for, so you may or may not be asked to provide this information.
What we do with your information.
We use the personal data you supply to us to match your loan requirements to master broker's or other financial lender's services in order to send your loan data to the most suitable organisation that could help provide your loan. The lenders may then contact you to discuss matters further up to the point of awarding you the loan you were seeking. The lenders who receive your information will appear on your account control panel so that you know who has received your personal data and can contact them directly.
At any time you can switch off this service and your data will no longer be sent to any further lenders. Altering your data whilst the service is switched on will cause your data to be sent to the most suitable lenders again. This may mean your data goes to new lenders, and/or to lenders who received your data before.
We may use your information in order to personalise periodic emails that we send to you - for example if you apply for a secured loan, but do not provide us with sufficient information to complete the transaction, we mail send you an email that reminds you about the information we're waiting for.
How we email you.
We do not send unsolicited emails. We only send emails to our customers who have registered for our loan service and who have not unsubscribed from our email service. We do not use spamming techniques such as scanning the internet for email addresses, nor do we purchase email addresses from third parties.
The email address you provide us will be used for the following purposes:
- Periodic status information about the progress of your loan application.
- Reminder emails - if your loan application cannot progress we will email you to tell you why and what you can do to change the status.
- Confirmation of your closed account, if you choose to close your account.
- Periodic newsletters about our service and any new services we may introduce.
Note that at any time you can opt out of receiving emails from us by doing the following:
- Clicking on the opt-out link that we include in our emails to you.
- Logging into your account and selecting the option that declines further emails from us.
We may also use a technique called a "tracking beacon" in our emails - which means when you open an email from us we are able to tell that the email was opened by registering a hit in our database. Personal information is not transmitted within this tracking beacon. We do this so that we can tell if our emails are reaching our customer and not, say, being blocked by ISPs.
EMAIL Unsubscribe - response time.
There are two methods for unsubscribing: active and passive.
Active:
- By clicking on the unsubscribe link that we include in our emails to you.
- By logging into your account and switching off the option to send you emails.
Passive:
- By an email of ours being rejected/bounced back by your email server as undeliverable.
Active unsubscription requests are processed immediately.
Passive unsubscription requests are processed within 24 hours.
EMAIL Feedback Loops.
Within the email you may also see a code like this:- ((.XX0102030405.)). This is so that we can identify any emails that an ISP bounces/rejects back to our mail server. By using this code we are able to mark your account so that no more emails are sent to your email address ... at least until you come back to us and correct your email address or re-enable receiving emails.
If our service receives a rejected email from your Internet Service Provider (ISP) (i.e. a "bounced" email), our system will automatically stop sending you further email messages until you re-enable your email address by logging into your account and choosing the appropriate option (however, please also see the section Closing your Account).
In addition, we check new email addresses nightly, and all email addresses weekly, to ensure that an address exists / passes formatting testing etc before we attempt to send communication to it.
We also participate in some ISP's feedback loop - (currently AOL and Yahoo) - who will email us when you mark our email as being Spam (even though we have previously had your permission to email you). When we receive feedback from the ISP about your spam indication we immediately disable your account from sending further email to that email address. We will, from time to time, enhance our service by adding other ISP's feedback loop mechanisms.
How we protect your information.
We use a variety of methods to protect your information. This includes the use of secure socket layers (SSL) which is a technology that encrypts your data as it is transmitted to our server. Your information is held on a secure database to which only those authorised with special access rights can gain access to the system and are required to keep such information confidential.
After your transaction is completed you may close your account which means your data is no longer used to contact you, nor used to process a loan application. We will keep your personal details in a secure database as financial institutions policies require of us in case of historic queries of a legal nature - this is to protect us as a company. You may contact us to request that your details are deleted from our system - in which case we will move your data offline into a seperate database in order to make your data inaccessible from the web site but we will keep your data accessible to secured personelle only as required of us by financial institution policies..
You may amend your personal details at any time by logging into your account using your password. Without your password, no-one can log into your account. If you forget your password you may request that your password be sent to you by email using your registered email address.
How we use cookies.
We store a cookie into your browser in order to enhance your personal experience of our web site Until you register with us this cookie cannot be used to identify you. After your registration this cookie can be used to identify you personally, for example to see how you use the web site in order for us to enhance our web site and fix any problems.
We use cookies in order to help our web site personalise your experience.
If you choose, you can disable the use of cookies by instructing your web browser. Our service will not be able to operate fully if you do this.
Closing your account.
There is no minimum time that your account will remain open. Whilst the account is open you may return at anytime, amend your data and cause our service to re-process your loan data, sending it to matching brokers & lenders. You may, of course, return to our service and specifically close your account at any time you wish. Until that time, though, we will not close your account.
However, there is one exception to this: if your email address "bounces" a message or a newsletter that we send you (i.e. your mail service provider rejects the message back to us in an identifiable way) we will then allow a period of two months to elapse after the initial "bounce" - and then, if you have not returned to amend your email address and/or update your personal data as descrbed above, our service will automatically close your account. We do this because once we are unable to contact you by email we are unable to contact you with such matters as forgotten password which would prevent you from logging in and closing your account yourself.
Third party contact.
With your permission, and at our discretion, we may occasionally make your personal details available to third parties only for the purposes of offering related products to you. You can decline this service by logging into your account and switching off this service.
Children's Online Privacy.
Our web site products are available only to those 18 years and over. Children may read through our web site, but may not use our service to apply for a loan. Should any person under the age of 18 apply for a loan through our service (i.e., by giving false information about their date of birth - as our site requires that a person is a minimum age of 18 to apply for a loan) this will be caught at the time our agents make contact with the applicant and the application will be denied.
Your consent.
By using our site you consent to our privacy policy.
This policy was last amended on 5th June, 2009.
